Here at Yellow Hook, we’re absolutely in love with tweed, all kinds of tweed. Harris Tweed, Shetland Tweed, Irish Tweed, Donegal Tweed and even Italian Tweed have graced many of our collections over the years and have been a staple of our Fall and Winter ones. But what we saw yesterday from the Cheltenham Festival in the UK was just disturbing, even for tweed lovers like us.
A friend texted me a link yesterday to one of strangest news articles I’d seen in a very long time. At the prestigious Cheltenham Festival in the UK, a veteran jump horse was suited up, literally. Morestead was the poor thing who was subjected to the custom 3 piece tweed made by one of Alexander McQueen’s former apprentices. I can only imagine what this poor horse was thinking, and it probably wasn’t, “Oh, the drape on this tweed is beautiful.”
Now that’s a horse of a different color.
